A painter of varied subject matter as well as being an illustrator and engraver, Andre Dulaurens was born on 23rd June 1918 in Autun in the Saône-et-Loire region of France.

He had initially trained to be an interior decorator but graduated to being an artist through self-tuition. His subject matter included nudes, figures, portraits, flowers, landscapes and flowers and one of his commissions was to produce nine paintings depicting the life of Christ for the chapel in the Château de Marguerite de Bougogne. He was certainly living in Paris at some point as some of his paintings are inscribed with that city’s name.

His engravings were also used to illustrate “La Bataille d’Autun” and “Paysages et Types de Bourgogne”.
